On the Water
- Traditional dhow sailing — A full day sailing the channels between islands on a hand-built wooden dhow. Snorkelling, swimming, picnic on a sandbank. From $150/boat (up to 8 guests).
- Speedboat island hopping — Visit Manda Island ruins, Kiwayu Marine Reserve, or the remote beaches of Pate Island. From $200/day.
- Kitesurfing — The channel between Shela and Manda Island is one of the best kite spots in Kenya. Equipment rental and lessons available.
- Stand-up paddle boarding — Equipment provided from Wimbi House, free of charge.
Cultural- Lamu Old Town walking tour — Navigate the 2km² labyrinth of lanes with a local guide. Visit the fort, the Friday mosque, the Swahili house museum. Half day, $40/person.
- Dhow building beach — Watch master craftspeople building wooden boats using techniques unchanged for centuries.
- Cooking class — Learn to make authentic Swahili coastal cuisine with our chef. 3 hours, from $60/person.
Relaxation- Private beach picnic — We pack a full picnic and cooler and organise a dhow to drop you at a deserted stretch of beach. $80 all in.

- Sunset rooftop drinks — Our rooftop at Wimbi House is one of the finest vantage points in Shela for sundowners over the village and ocean.
